The Theatre Alive With Music

On 29 March, The Whitty Theatre was alive with the sound of music as our talented musicians took to the stage for the annual Spring Concert. There was standing room only in the theatre as the concert showcased an eclectic mix of musical styles and genres, including instrumental and singing solos, as well as choir and orchestral performances

The standard was simply excellent. Particular highlights included a whole-school orchestra performance of Star Wars, Pop Looks Bach and Poker Face, an African Drumming improvisation, Eye of the Tiger and She Said, by the newly formed and very cool looking Rock School, a beautiful rendition of One Voice by the Chamber Choir and a stunning solo performance of As Long as He Needs Me, by Year 7 pupil, Katie.

Head, Mrs Jane Tudor,  said: “I truly admire our pupils for the sheer dedication and the hours of practice that they put into their musical performances. It was a delight to watch this all come together on the night for what was a truly outstanding Spring Concert. A special thank you must go to Director of Music, Mrs Janice Ellwood, for bringing out such talent and confidence in our pupils and for putting on this fabulous show.”
