The Whitty Theatre came alive last night as we held our first ever performance to a large and appreciative audience. The evening started with a drinks reception in the foyer, then with guests seated comfortably in the auditorium, the magic unveiled.
The first play was ‘Burglars’ by David Rudkin, performed by pupils from Years 7 and 8; a dynamic and powerful piece, with strong rhythms and well-modulated choral speaking.
GCSE drama students then performed ‘The Fantasticks’, showcasing some wonderful talent, with beautiful vocals and a touch of humour!
Mr Phil Creighton, Editor of the Wokingham Paper, who was amongst the audience commented:
“It was a real privilege to witness the first play performed at the Whitty Theatre – and to see such talent from the young performers. I am always impressed with the high standards that Luckley has and last night was no exception.”
Well done to all involved!
