Welcome to Luckley House School

Luckley House School is a thriving Coeducational Independent School, located in Wokingham, Berkshire, offering day and flexible boarding provision for pupils aged 11 to 18 years. The school is set in attractive grounds with excellent facilities, and at just 40 miles from London, is the perfect location for full or weekly boarders.

Our uniqueness lies in the combination of our size, Christian ethos and flexibility to meet the needs of individual pupils and their families. We provide a distinctly academic education that is tailored to the individual needs of each pupil. This is offered in the context of a broad curriculum which celebrates the arts and sports, as much as academic achievement.

From 23 March, in line with government guidelines, we moved to remote learning at Luckley. Our recent inspection report highlighted two aspects of school life that have stood pupils in good stead in the move to remote learning. “Pupils of all abilities develop excellent information, communication and technology (ICT) skills throughout the school. All pupils are provided with a notebook computer, which they are encouraged to use as part of their learning in all their subjects.” In addition, through our extensive project programme, pupils have well-developed independent learning skills for their age, again highlighted in the inspection report. Therefore, we have experienced a very smooth start to the introduction to remote learning. The emphasis now is to continue to refine and improve in the coming weeks. There will be lessons to learn through experience, but the whole school community is ready to work together to achieve excellent outcomes. Learning how to work and collaborate will bring huge benefits,  especially for continuing education beyond the school years. The work from home concept has been on the rise for many years, but this generation of school pupils will be the experts.

Boarding

Luckley House School is the perfect choice if you are considering full, weekly or flexible boarding. Testimonial – Mrs Elhaggagi

“I just wanted to say thank you to the school and all the staff for the hard work they are putting into making online school work so well. Our son seems very in control of what is happening, how and when. He is following his new timetable and the school day is flowing almost as it might have done in usual circumstances. Even the odd technical issue has been sorted quickly – including the need to come to school to pick up a new surface dock. It has all been arranged smoothly and without any problems. The ability to follow a timetable of lessons ‘live’ has made a considerable difference in comparison to passive content being set for students to complete in their own time. Having the schedule to follow, the live teacher interaction and the ‘normal’ sense of time in lessons is definitely helping – and not just in educational terms but in keeping maintaining my son’s self-esteem and mental well-being. Thank you.”

Testimonial – Mrs Weaver

“I wanted to say how very impressed we have been with the school provision for remote learning, both pastoral and academic. We think that the timetable seems to be working very well, and we really appreciate the amount of time and effort that you and the staff have obviously been putting in to deliver it. The communication with the students and the help and support offered has been great. We were particularly grateful to Mr Wilkinson, who was able to fix an audio issue with our daughter’s Surface very quickly on the school premises, after remote fixes failed.

We are delighted that homework has been kept to a minimum and that our daughter can then get to go outside and be with us. This time to be together has been so important to us as a family”

Testimonial – Celine

“My journey at Luckley has been about the amazing support and this had not just come from my subject teachers, but from everyone. Other teachers, pupils across all years as well as administrative and domestic staff. It has been throughout my experience. The best thing is when you’re not feeling confident, they will always have confidence in you and during the toughest times at school this has proven to be key to my success. I’m so happy to be leaving with essential GCSEs, 3 A-levels and my first choice place at University of Westminster. “

Testimonial – Mrs Foster

“Luckley House, in every aspect, is a great all-round place for your child to learn, make friends, try new skills and perform to their best ability during their school life. The atmosphere always feels positive and happy, staff are approachable and supportive, pupils have freedom to explore new avenues and excel maybe where they least expected. The facilities and grounds are of a very high standard which is a lovely environment in which to learn and thrive.”

Testimonial – Ross

“The small class sizes were the main selling point for the school, as this enabled me to speak out a lot more. I felt more included in class discussions rather than just blending in with the crowd and not feeling like I could ask questions”

Testimonial – Mrs Pritchard

“Luckley House has provided our children with not only an excellent education, but a wonderful nurturing environment in which they have been able to thrive. We have been overwhelmed at how all teachers are prepared to go that extra mile to ensure that each child achieves his or her very best potential both academically and emotionally.”

“Luckley has given our child an outstanding education and happy teenage years. It has a dedicated, talented staff and offers so many opportunities to its pupils allowing excellence and creativity to flourish without overloading the pupils. The quality of grounds, building and facilities further compliments the excellent people who make it happen. The education is very well thought out and enables pupils to attain their personal bests setting them up for life ahead. The ‘can do’ flexible attitude is wonderful.”

Testimonial – Anonymous 2 (Parent Survey 2019)

My daughter has been at Luckley for nearly 7 years now and has been so happy there. Luckley aims for each child to reach their full potential and they have kept their word. My daughter has grown and blossomed from a year 7 child into a confident young woman ready to go to university in September. In her own words she said to me” Luckley has made me who I am today” who could ask for more than that.”
