There is lots of excitement in school for World Book Day, with a host of activities taking place today and into next week.

All pupils were given a £1 voucher as they left a special assembly, given by Head of English, Clare Rees, sporting a very apt ‘Middlemarch themed T-Shirt and ‘Book’ necklace.

Throughout the day, a short story will be split into five parts and teachers will read a section at the start of each lesson so that pupils will hear the entire story by the end of the day.

A treasure hunt is taking place in the form of 25 posters around the school featuring world changing books . Prizes are on offer to pupils who manage to find them all.

On Friday 4 March, there will be an inter-form book quiz for tutor time and on Tuesday 8 March,  Author Paul Dowswell will be visiting to talk to the pupils and will be selling and signing books.

We will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair in the library from 16 to 21 March. World Book Day vouchers can be used to get £1 off any purchases.

Pupils can enter the national ‘Design a National Book Token Competition’ to be in with a chance of winning up to £250 of book tokens for the school and £100 for themselves.
