We have given much thought and care to how Luckley Online will operate, reflecting on our past experience and always aiming to provide the best possible online school for our pupils.
Luckley Online includes live lessons, recorded content, clubs and activities, special events and guest appearances. The main platform we are using is Microsoft Teams, which pupils and staff are familiar with and all pupils are provided with a Microsoft Surface tablet with which to work. Teams allows us to hold live lessons, upload recorded content, allow access to OneNote and host a variety of resources.
Luckley is about more than academic lessons and the pastoral care of our community remains central to what we do. Pupils have regular contact with their tutors and Heads of Year and we continue with our Monday assemblies. The school counsellor is also available if needed.
We aim to keep Luckley connected through lockdown and we hope that parents and even members of our extended family will join in with many of the events we have planned in the coming weeks. The move to Luckley Online, unescapably means more time in front of a screen, so we really do encourage our pupils to ensure they read, exercise and make time to relax and find balance. As well as an extensive extended-day programme, there is a variety of events, activities and competitions on offer for the whole school community.
If you are not currently part of the Luckley community and you would like to find out more about Luckley Online, please contact Claire Crombie, the Registrar at Registrar@luckleyhouseschool.org Tel 0118 974 3221
“I wanted to say how very impressed we have been with the school provision for remote learning, both pastoral and academic. We think that the timetable seems to be working very well, and we really appreciate the amount of time and effort that you and the staff have obviously been putting in to deliver it. The communication with the students and the help and support offered has been great. We were particularly grateful to Mr Wilkinson, who was able to fix an audio issue with our daughter’s Surface very quickly on the school premises, after remote fixes failed.
We are delighted that homework has been kept to a minimum and that our daughter can then get to go outside and be with us. This time to be together has been so important to us as a family”
Mrs Weaver, Parent of Year 8 pupil
“I just wanted to say thank you to the school and all the staff for the hard work they are putting into making online school work so well. Our son seems very in control of what is happening, how and when. He is following his new timetable and the school day is flowing almost as it might have done in usual circumstances. Even the odd technical issue has been sorted quickly – including the need to come to school to pick up a new surface dock. It has all been arranged smoothly and without any problems. The ability to follow a timetable of lessons ‘live’ has made a considerable difference in comparison to passive content being set for students to complete in their own time. Having the schedule to follow, the live teacher interaction and the ‘normal’ sense of time in lessons is definitely helping – and not just in educational terms but in keeping maintaining my son’s self-esteem and mental well-being. Thank you.”

“I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say a huge thank you to you and everyone at Luckley for all you are doing. As a leader in a large organisation I am acutely aware of the uncertainty and communications challenges we face at this time. But the speedy and agile approach that the Luckley team have adopted to get the children learning virtually in a connected and sympathetic way has been outstanding. While other schools have struggled to embrace technology, keep staff and students engaged and focused on learning outcomes Luckley has really led the way. As you prepare for your final half-term with the school I wanted to share that we think you, supported by your team, are doing a wonderful job.”
