Our Key Stage 3 programme of study follows the National Curriculum for Science. The course aims to provide learning opportunities which stretch the minds of the ablest students while at the same time allowing less able students to achieve their potential. Through the year we have covered some of the key basic concepts in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Practical work has played an important role in both teaching the ‘scientific method’ and reinforcing the ideas studied.
Science is a core subject and so compulsory for all pupils.
The GCSE course introduces you to fundamental ideas in scientific theory and helps you to learn practical skills through topical investigations. Science is a fascinating subject which has inspired some of our pupils to go on to study Medicine, Engineering, Natural Sciences, Marine Biology and Biochemistry at university.
Course Content
These specifications have been designed to allow progression to A level courses in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The course is composed of two or three GCSEs worth of material, all examined at the end of Year 11. The course covers aspects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
