It was an exciting day at Luckley House School on Friday as Head, Jane Tudor laid the first brick for the School’s new Performing Arts Centre.
The Centre, due for completion in March 2016, will house a 179-seat auditorium, a dance and drama studio, a workshop, classrooms and offices.
With three major productions a year, as well as the regular drama and musical theatre lessons, the new centre is set to be a hub of activity. Pupils will enjoy getting involved in the many aspects of drama and theatre production, whether as an actor, stage-manager, sound and lighting technician, or set and costume designer.
In addition, the building will be used for a number of in-house events, as well as being available for use by local schools and drama groups within the community.
Mrs Tudor commented: “It is hard to express the excitement behind laying this first brick in our new Performing Arts Centre, as it symbolises our anticipation of great performances and young people pushing the boundaries of creative learning. This development represents continued excellence at Luckley House School.”
