What our Boarders Say

English

I started full boarding when I was 11 because my Dad is in the forces and we could move quite far away. I found boarding hard at first because I felt quite homesick, but I was surrounded with people who felt the same way and I now feel like the boarding house is my second home.  It is very homely and like a community, and because the boarding house is quite small everyone is very close and we know each other really well.

I love boarding. I always feel welcome, my roommates feel like my sisters and we get on well in boarding and during school. My room is very comfortable and we have a lot of space and time to do work and chill out with friends. The staff are very friendly and we always have someone to talk to if something is worrying or upsetting us.

My Typical Day: We wake up at 7.30am and get ready for school. We do our hair in the mirrors and then go downstairs for breakfast at 8am. There is always a lot of choice for food, including vegetarian options and fruit. We go to school at 8.45am and have lessons until the school day finishes at 4pm. We have a choice of after school clubs and extended day activities which run from 4.30pm until 5.30pm. Our dinner is at 6pm, followed by prep until 7.45pm.  After that we go upstairs and we have free time for showers, calls to our family, or time with friends before we go to bed at 9pm. Our weekends are very chilled out. We usually go out on trips on Saturdays, have a variety of interesting visitors or in-school activities on Sundays, and on Friday nights we watch films in the common room, and sometimes bake.

I take part in many clubs, such as rounders, cricket, trampolining, climbing wall, outdoor fun and games, badminton and I am considering starting to go to football. I also play the guitar and am in the senior choir.

I see my family every third or fourth weekend (on ‘Quiet Weekend’) and I speak to them regularly. I think the best thing about boarding is the friendships you make which you keep for life.  I would recommend this school to anyone if they would like a small school where they can really shine. Luckley has great sporting facilities and arts such as drama, art, textiles, photography and music. You can do a wide range of music lessons like singing, guitar, piano, flute, violin, etc.

¡No os voy a olvidar nunca y prometo visitaros pronto!
