TEACHER OF LIFE SKILLS (PSHE/RSE)

Permanent, full time

We are looking to appoint a teacher of PSHE to deliver PSHE/RSE that is taught in a programme at Luckley House School called ‘Life Skills’.

This is a new dedicated role that has been created to allow a Life Skills Teacher to play a crucial part in delivering a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic education programme to empower students with essential life skills.

This position is ideal for individuals passionate about promoting the holistic well-being of students and fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.

Teaching will primarily take place in a classroom setting and it is essential that the teacher is able to adapt their teaching methods to suit individual and group needs.

The Life Skills teacher will need to work collaboratively with the Head of Life Skills to integrate PSHE/RSE concepts into various subject areas and develop an enriching curriculum based on student needs and Government guidelines.

EXAM INVIGILATOR

Permanent, zero hours contract

Salary: £11.94 per hour

We have an opportunity for highly organised, committed and enthusiastic individuals to join our current team of Exam Invigilators. The role involves conducting examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) awarding body and Luckley House School’s regulations and instructions. The successful candidates will be able to work effectively in a busy school to ensure that the integrity of both internal and external exams is maintained. Previous experience of invigilation is not essential as full training in the role and duties of an invigilator will be provided.

ASSISTANT SENDCO

Permanent, full time or part time (minimum of 4 days a week)

We are seeking to appoint a full time or part time Assistant SENDCo to join our Learning Support Department to work closely with the SENDCo to implement the strategic development of the School’s Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) policy and oversee the day-to-day operation of that policy with the aim of raising SEND pupil achievement within the School.

The Learning Support Department is able to provide 1:1 tuition for all pupils within the School to enhance their learning. This can take the form of study skills provision offering a bespoke system of learning ready for external exams, or specialist support for dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD or associated working memory issues. We provide whole year group support in the form of our VESPA programme (Vision, Effort, Systems, Practice and Attitude) for Year 11 pupils, to enable them to manage the GCSE process effectively, and to develop the ‘soft skills’ they will need in Higher Education and beyond.

An SpLD qualification at Level 5 or Level 7 is an essential requirement for this position.

TEACHER OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Permanent, part time (approx. 60% FTE)

Start date: April or September 2024

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Photography (approx. 60% FTE) with a passion for teaching creative and exciting lessons. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach Photography together with the desire to develop their own skill set in order to contribute to the continued development of the Luckley Art and Photography Department.  We teach Photography as a separate endorsed subject at Key Stage 3 and 4 and at Key Stage 5 we also offer Art, Graphics and Photography.

The Art and Photography Department is devoted to developing and nurturing creative students with independent working and critical thinking skills.  We employ a holistic approach to the development of our students with excellent teaching and learning and an emphasis on positive working relationships at the heart of everything that we do.

The Department benefits from two large art classrooms and a dedicated Sixth Form classroom. We have a kiln and pottery area, a large flatbed printing press and alongside digital photography, we have a fully functioning dark room that accommodates manual and film photography processing and development. The School runs an extensive enrichment programme which includes Art and Photography clubs which are well attended.

This role could be suitable for an ECT.

Working solely with student in Years 10 to 13, the Spanish Language Assistant will help students in the preparation for the oral component of public examinations.

MATHS TUTOR

Permanent, zero hours contract (up to 10 hours a week worked over 2 days)

Required for January 2024 Salary £39.53 per hour

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, innovative and enthusiastic Maths Tutor to work in our Learning Support Department.

As Maths Tutor, you will work with our students through a variety of intervention strategies with the aim of securing improved outcomes and progress for pupils who may need additional support across both KS3 and KS4. This is likely to include pupils with neurodiverse profiles.

A good honours degree in a relevant subject and a good understanding of the needs and characteristics of pupils across the age range 11-18 are essential.
