Teacher of History (part-time)

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, innovative, and enthusiastic part-time Teacher of History. The part time allocation is flexible and will depend on the candidate’s preference and will be between 60-80%.

You will be joining a well-resourced and popular department which delivers History at both GCSE and A Level. The department has membership of the History Association, with all its teaching materials and CPD.

At Luckley House, History is a very popular option for both GCSE and A Level, and many of our students have gone on to read the subject at University. We follow the AQA specification, teaching Nazi Germany, Medicine, the Age of Elizabeth, and Conflict and Tension in Asia at GCSE. At A Level, we teach the English Civil War and Russian history from 1855 to 1957.

The successful applicant will be an inspirational Teacher of History and an outstanding classroom practitioner who has strong organisational skills and works well with others. Full training will be available for an ECT if applicable.

The department also teaches Politics and as such the ability to teach Politics is desirable but not essential.’

Job profile – Part Time Teacher of History


Director of Finance and Operations

The Headmistress and Governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and commercially minded Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) with the skill set to shape strategy and deliver operational functions effectively. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the continued success and development of a school that has seen a significant growth in pupil numbers in recent years and is looking forward to launching a new ten year development plan that will allow for expansion of both its sports facilities and the wider site.

The post-holder is accountable to the Board of Governors on Finance and all other matters and attends all Board and sub-committee meetings but reports to the Headmistress on day-to-day operational matters. The DFO is a critical member of the Leadership Team and will work with the Headmistress and Governors to shape and implement the School’s strategic development. The DFO will lead a diverse team of support staff, ensuring effective and efficient functional delivery whilst driving continuous improvement in financial, estate and operational performance.  Areas of responsibility will include finance, buildings and facilities, health and safety, risk management, catering, transport, legal and commercial activities. The DFO is also Clerk to the Governors.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful business leadership and will be a strategic thinker with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.  Exceptional financial acumen and robust commercial judgement will be essential, as will an ability to establish highly effective, collaborative working relationships with the Headmistress, Governors and colleagues at all levels. Prior experience in the education sector is not essential and applications are welcomed from candidates with commercial, charitable and private-sector backgrounds.
