The School engages with local youth groups, inviting them in to enjoy some of the amazing facilities we have to offer. Local cubs and brownies groups have enjoyed the Adventure Trail in the woods, the climbing wall and the trampolines. The local primary school uses the school playing fields for its sports day and recently recorded its school song in the Music Centre.
The Whitty Theatre has fast become a very popular venue for many local community groups. Find out more on the What’s On page.
Luckley House School pupils have chosen to support two charities – Lunchbowl and Stand by Me.
Lunchbowl provides funding for a dinner programme for up to 500 orphaned and vulnerable children in Kibera, Nairobi. The children in the programme have been selected because of their vulnerability and high need, and rely upon the nutrition that is provided daily by The Lunchbowl Network.
Stand by Me rescues children, then does whatever it takes to provide the love, care and attention they need to thrive. Luckley pupils sponsor a young girl in Ethiopia, funding her education at the Bethany Bekoji School.
Throughout the year, each form organises charitable events to raise funds for Lunchbowl and Stand by Me. Previous activities have included Mufti Days, 3-Legged Day, cake sales, car washing plus a whole-school breakfast for pupils and staff.
Each year the Sixth Form selects one charity to support from their RAG week activities. These have included The Alzheimers Society and The Ollie Young Foundation.
In addition, the school participates in a number of local and national fundraising events:
• The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support
• Den Day for Save the Children
• The Poppy Appeal for the Royal British Legion
• Wokingham Food Bank
• Comic Relief
• Children in Need
