New Year 12 Study Skills Course Launch

This week in assembly our Year 12 students were introduced to the new Luckley ‘Y12 Study Skills Course’. Our SENDCo and Director of Pupil Progress, Mrs Bell, interviewed Head Student James who completed the course last year. James explained how helpful he found the sessions, talking in detail about the new skills he acquired.

Mrs Robinson, our Assistant SENCo talked about the course content. She emphasised how it has been designed to support students as they transition to A Level, “The aim is to help students build the underlying skills that will help them to manage their workload and excel in their subjects”.

This morning Mrs Robinson attended tutor time to talk to students in further detail about the course. She helped students to review their study skills and set themselves action points for the new term. The 6-week programme covers the essentials of effective study at A Level, including a focus on organisation, time management, revision and how to plan longer pieces of written work. Mrs Robinson will be visiting all Year 12 tutor groups this week.

The new ‘Y12 Study Skills Course’ is starting next week. Planned and delivered by specialist teachers, the 6-week course is being offered on a 1-1 basis for all interested Year 12 students. We’ll cover everything that a new Year 12 student might want to know about organisation, time management, making effective notes and more.
