Young Learners Discover the Logic Behind Illusions
We welcomed pupils from 20 primary and prep schools for a truly unique educational experience — a morning where mathematics and magic combined to create an unforgettable learning adventure.
The event was led by former Luckley Deputy Head and Maths Teacher, who is also a talented magician, offering pupils the chance to uncover the mathematical principles that make magic tricks work. Over the course of the two-hour workshop, children explored probability, number patterns, logic puzzles and number theory in a highly interactive and engaging way.
Rather than simply watching tricks being performed, pupils were taught to become magicians themselves. By understanding the numbers behind each illusion, they left equipped with new skills to amaze their family and friends — and a fresh enthusiasm for the power of mathematics.
The workshop forms part of Luckley’s ongoing commitment to providing innovative and inspiring learning opportunities for young people — encouraging curiosity, building confidence, and showing that education can be both rigorous and fun.
