A POSITIVE OUTLOOK
Camilla Potter (class of 2011) is a ray of sunshine: warm, energetic and endlessly enthusiastic about life. Chatty, personable and always ready for a challenge, Cami describes herself as a “yes” person and a “habit stacker”, someone who likes to make the most of every moment. Whether in work, travel or friendships, she embraces opportunity with optimism and curiosity. That same spirit is what led her to accept the role of guest speaker at this year’s Luckley Speech Day, albeit with slight hesitation. In her own school days, speakers included the formidable Dame Prue Leith. “Yikes!” she laughs. There is also irony in being invited back to speak when, as a pupil, she was often asked to stop chatting in class.
Cami remembers her Luckley years as deeply social and full of community spirit. She met her closest friend, Haravneet Jabble (Av), in Year 9, and the pair still speak daily. A wider group of six Luckley friends remains close today, a lasting sisterhood forged during their school years. Among her favourite memories are the annual Christmas Cracker performances and the camaraderie of the house system. As Deputy House Captain of Drake House, now Galloway, she relished the competitive but friendly atmosphere of house events. Her love of literature was inspired by the much-adored, Mrs Lee, her English and Drama teacher, who left a lasting impression on many pupils. Mrs Lee’s move back home to America was a huge disappointment to the girls. Sport, adventure and music also played a big part in school life. Cami’s Luckley years were spent playing netball, the violin, as well as the piano. She never missed an opportunity to get involved in school life.
AN IMPRESSIVE CAREER
Today, Cami has built an impressive marketing career founded on hard work, adaptability and a willingness to throw herself into new opportunities. She is currently Senior Customer Relationship Manager at Bionic, a comparison service supporting small UK businesses, where she leads email marketing strategy. The company’s fast-paced, work-hard-play-hard culture suits her perfectly. Her talent and drive have been recognised through Bionic’s High Flyer Programme, where she was selected as one of the company’s top 50 employees, earning a networking trip to Barcelona. The company has also invested in her leadership development through an exclusive Senior Leadership programme. It is this culture of recognising and nurturing talent that makes Cami feel valued and excited for the future.
Before joining Bionic, Cami worked at Canon as a CRM Campaign Specialist and previously spent nearly six years at Royal Holloway, University of London as Campaigns Manager.
A WORLD CITIZEN
After studying Drama and Theatre Studies both at Luckley and university, she later completed a Masters in Sustainability and Management, combining creativity with commercial understanding and social responsibility. Drama provided many of the soft skills essential to marketing: communication, creativity, teamwork and confidence. Her sustainability studies introduced a broader understanding of globalisation and business strategy, allowing her to see theatre and entertainment from an entirely new perspective.
One pivotal opportunity came at just 23, when Royal Holloway sent her to Hong Kong to visit schools and promote the university internationally. It was a huge responsibility and one she remembers with pride and gratitude.
Outside work, Cami continues to approach life with the same enthusiasm and sense of adventure. She enjoys weightlifting, tennis, long countryside walks, cooking and spending time with friends and family. Travel is a particular passion, with 35 countries already explored and many more on the list. Japan remains a dream destination, while regular trips to France, Germany, Italy and the United States continue to feed her love of experiencing different cultures.
For Cami, happiness lies in saying yes, embracing opportunity and appreciating the world around her. As she puts it, life really is beautiful when you make the most of every moment.
