Our Luckley Young Singer of the Year Competition Finals proved to be an unforgettable showcase of musical excellence, with performers delivering a consistently high standard across all categories. The adjudicators praised the confidence and musicality shown by every finalist, making the decision-making process challenging!
The evening featured six competitive categories, celebrating ability across Classical, Pop and Musical Theatre at both Junior and Senior levels.
In Junior Classical, the winning performance came from Cassian, whose poise and vocal control with ‘Panis Angelicus’ impressed the adjudicators. The Senior Classical title was awarded to Rei, securing a well-deserved win with an expressive performance of ‘O Del Mio Dolce Ardor’.
In the Pop categories, Harry took the title in Junior Pop, delivering a confident and engaging performance of ‘To Love Someone’. The Senior Pop category was won by Lola, singing ‘Hallelujah’, with her musical maturity shining through.
Musical Theatre brought both drama and emotional depth to the evening. Millie claimed victory in Junior Musical Theatre with a truly remarkable performance of ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, while Senior Musical Theatre was once again won by Lola, singing ‘Still Hurting’.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of Overall Young Singer of the Year, awarded to Year 10 pupil, Lola. The adjudicators praised her remarkable versatility and consistency across genres. Performing in all three Senior categories, Lola showcased a wide emotional and stylistic range. Her ability to adapt her vocal technique and interpretation to suit each genre was described as “outstanding”, setting her apart in a field of strong competitors.
The judges concluded the evening by commending the exceptionally high standard of all performances, noting the dedication and preparation evident in every finalist. The finals were not only a competition, but a celebration of young vocal talent and hard work at Luckley.
