As part of our Eco-Schools Enrichment programme and our commitment to healthy living and biodiversity, students spent an enjoyable and productive session in the sensory garden this week. They worked together to plant a range of carefully selected species. This includes lavender, rosemary, buddleia, thyme and oregano. These plants will add wonderful scents and culinary benefits to the garden, attract important pollinators and we are hoping will keep the deers away.
The group also harvested fresh strawberries, sowed butternut squash seeds and prepared areas for new wildlife habitats. In the coming weeks, we will install robin nesting boxes, a hedgehog house and homes for mason and leafcutter bees, creating even more opportunities for local wildlife to thrive.
We are especially grateful that funds raised during our October non-uniform day made it possible to purchase the plants. This project highlights the positive impact our school community can have when we work together towards a shared goal.
A huge well done to all the students and staff who took part. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and dedication have helped transform the sensory garden into a vibrant and welcoming space that supports both people and nature. We look forward to seeing the garden continue to grow and flourish in the months ahead.
