Drama Students Celebrate Outstanding National Success

Luckley House School is delighted to share the exceptional success of its drama students in the National Youth Monologues competition, following an impressive debut year for the school in this national initiative.

We are delighted to share the exceptional success of our drama students in the National Youth Monologues competition, following an impressive debut year for us in this national initiative.

The National Youth Monologues competition attracted nearly 4,000 entries from across the UK. Students submitted filmed performances of monologues they had chosen themselves, spanning classical, contemporary, screen and original writing, with some entering more than one category. All entries were judged by an expert panel.

The results speak volumes about the talent, creativity and commitment of Luckley’s young performers.

Four students – Jamie E, Meghan T, Josie H and Emily H – were selected for the Regional Shortlist, which recognises outstanding performances from across the region. Trinity M achieved the rare distinction of being both Regionally Shortlisted and Commended, after entering two monologues and receiving accolades for each.

In total, 18 Luckley students gained national recognition. Alongside the Regional Shortlist performers, 13 students received Commended awards: Jasper D, Harriet W, Emily D, Romilly D, Holly J, Matthew P, Catherine A, Marilia C, Rei H, Jess B‑F, Grace W, Evelyn W and Dylan C. The Commended category highlights performances that particularly stood out to the judges in an extremely competitive field.

The Regional Shortlist celebrates performers chosen from thousands of entries who demonstrated exceptional skill, creativity and dedication, placing them among the top young actors in their region.

Adding to this success, Luckley House School has also been nominated for the Methuen Drama School & Group Prize (South East Region) as part of National Youth Monologues 2026. This nomination recognises both the high quality of student work and the school’s ongoing commitment to developing young performers.

Regional winners will be announced at the upcoming Regional Finals🙁 Southern Regional Final – Stone Nest, London (Sunday 24 May)

Regional winners will then be considered for the National School & Group Prize, supported by Methuen Drama, with the national winner receiving £250 worth of Methuen Drama books.

This remarkable achievement is a testament to the passion, hard work and talent of Luckley’s drama students, and to the School’s dedication to providing enriching and challenging performance opportunities. Congratulations to everyone involved on a truly outstanding year, we are so proud of you!
